Chevrolet Bel Air Hairdyer
A complete redesign of the classic hairdryer structure based on the classic car

Overview
This project was created for a university course to explore product design and concept development, taking ergonomics and user experience into account
Goal
The goal was to reimagine the traditional hairdryer design, enhancing its ergonomics for improved user comfort while maintaining—or even surpassing—its drying efficiency.
Role
Product Designer & Researcher
Tools
Rhinoceros, Keyshot

Aesthetic Inspiration
The task was to choose an iconic product to serve as the aesthetic inspiration for the hairdryer's design. We selected the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, renowned for its sharp lines and timeless style, as the foundation for the concept
Looking into references
To stay true to both the game and the theme, I researched existing pinball games and Powerpuff Girls games to explore their elements and overall look and feel

Design Concept
Drawing from the concept, I incorporated one of the Chevrolet model's most iconic colors, accented with silver details and inspired by the shape of the car's bumper. For the extra accessories, I added the car's brand logo to complete the design.

Upgrades
The redesigned hairdryer enhances user comfort and functionality through thoughtful upgrades. The grip in the interaction zone has been refined to fit the hand more naturally, reducing strain during use. Additionally, the improved angles align with ergonomic principles, addressing the discomfort traditional hairdryers often cause to the wrist and neck. For added convenience, a hands-free base allows users to rest their hands without interrupting the drying process, making the experience more seamless and user-friendly
