Churuca Market App
This app was designed to support local farmers and markets during the pandemic by leveraging technology to expand their reach and connect with more customers.

Overview
The project aimed to address the challenges of accessing farmers' markets in Costa Rica during the pandemic. The app was designed to support local agriculture by providing a new way for farmers to sell their products, allowing families to continue benefiting from market prices. The primary focus was on the client-side experience
Goal
The goal was to create a tool that effectively rendered the farmer's market accessible to both its regular clientele and individuals who had not previously visited, therefore facilitating daily transactions and sustaining agricultural businesses amidst the pandemic.
The platform facilitates price comparisons, enabling users to make informed purchasing decisions. Moreover, customers have the convenience of requesting doorstep delivery or arranging for pickup of their groceries directly from the suppliers.

Research Phase
I began by examining the needs of both farmers selling at the market and customers at home who wanted fresh produce but were unable or hesitant to visit due to COVID regulations. Taking these scenarios into account, along with the typical user journey to the farmers' market I planned to create personas taking this into account.

Creating Personas
Following the previous research and scenarios I created the main users for this app for the client side taking into account their goals and challenges of shopping fresh products in the pandemic.

Wireframes
I used Figma to transform the initial sketches into low-fidelity wireframes and prepare for a small user testing with 5 people. With this I was able to identified minor inconveniences throughout the user journey.

UI Design
After applying the feedback, I went into incorporating the look and feel into the improved wireframes with a fresh and nature like theme. In order to be truth to this theme I used colors like green, yellow and orange.
The typography was chosen for its rounded, easy-to-read style.

Learnings
Highlightig key UX learnings started with emphasizing the need to address user anxieties during a crisis, the strategic importance of prioritizing the client-side experience for adoption, the necessity of deeply understanding the local context including technological literacy and infrastructure with both of the potential users (clients-farmers).
Outcomes
The app is still in development, with ongoing efforts to address key areas and further centralize information. While significant improvements have been made, there is still progress to be made.
